Command to know the Endianness (BIG or LITTLE ENDIAN) of the processor

Is there any command to know the Endianness i.e LITTLE or BIG ENDIAN of the processor.

For e.g, If our processor is X86 then it should display it is Little Endian
If our processor is power then it should display it is Big Endian

Also can we write program regardless of the Endianness of the processor
