Command Line Interface

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and linux in general. I've just installed Ubuntu Edgy Eft and The Kubuntu packages to see what desktop environment I like best. While I was playing around in Kubuntu and the Command Line Interface i tried sudo several times and while the password prompt is displayed and the cursor is displayed I can't seem to be able to enter the password (no text is diplayed). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, sj061:)

That is normal. The root user's password will not be echoed to the screen as you type it.

You can check you password in somewhere else. I have forgettern where Linu store the password. Probably, you can check at /etc/passwd.

No user's password will ever be stored as plain text in a file by the system, at the very least they will always be encrypted.

Though some programs (like Gaim) do save their passwords that way.
