Smile command line

Verry new to Linux (apprx. 10 hrs.) Installed Mandrake 9.2 with KDE
Once it is up and running how do I get to the command line. I read a lot of info and they tell me to write this and that (ex ls -1 ) But where does one do this?

Thanks S.P.

well first find a terminal .... there should be something in one of your menus simply called "terminal"

p.s. its ls -l not ls -1

Introduction to the command line

Makdrake has some of the best, most complete guides, tutorials, howtos that exist for any OS. It would be well worth your time to explore all the docs that come with it. Happy trails.

if nothing works, then press Alt+F2 when on the desktop. this opens a run command window.
There type "konsole" without the quotes. (the k is a small k NOT capital)
