Command for windows sililar defragmetnation

Hi Seniors,

I know that there is no need of of defragmentation in linux. But when my root partition was full last time i got a command that helped a kind of utility like defragmentation in windows..

Does anyone know command that works similar to defragment in winodws to free up some space?

Thanks in advance

You can resize a Linux partition using something like GParted (Bootable CD)

I am not aware of any defragmentation tools for Linux--Google might find something.

This forum ("LQ Suggestions & Feedback: Do you have a suggestion for this site or an idea that will make the site better? This forum is for you.") is not the place to ask general questions, and will soon be moved to a more suitable location. did you just pick the first one in the list?
