Combining Debian iso files to DVD

Is it possible to combine Debian Iso files and burn them on to a DVD.
And if so would Dvd remain bootable and would the Debian installer know where to search for files???

I am a total newbie?

well you could lump all the files into one iso, but you would have to alter the index files in the iso. i dont know if it would remain bootable, but i would think it unlikely. did you know there are already debian dvd images available?

if you can't download the files yourself, you can buy them from a vendor or I or more likely someone else on this forum (i imagine postage from australia would be quite expensive) could post them to you for price of postage.

what are the index files? what is there purpose?

I am aware of the DVD images out there. I find it faster to download the different ISO images.

I mean the files located in /dists on the cd. these files contain the locations, descriptions, dependencies and md5sums of all the packages on the cd.

intresting

I had planned on using Magic Iso and lumping all files together to make the DVD iso. However im realizing that packages are just going get overwritten when i add files from different cd isos..

im wondering how i can alter things so that the installer can find all packages. And Could i lump all packages. into on big Packages.gz file

it's definitely possible, because the debian folks have done it with the dvd... but I have no idea how it would be done. best bet would be to just look at the syntax of the files, and then lump it all into one big file.

it would be much simpler to just download the dvds, unless of course you've already downloaded the cd images?

EDIT: wait a minute....

I think he, like I, is just looking for a way to get Debian Sarge on 1 DVD (DL), if anyone knows where you can find this to buy I wouldn't mind purchasing it either.
