Colorful terminal?

As a n00b it is pretty hard to read the terminal with only black and white colors.

Gentoos default terminal was easy for me to read and helped me to configure the system. Is there anyway to copy that terminal into my distros (ubuntu 8.04) terminal? Or is there any terminal that is easy to download which is colourful?

It is important that the terminal or the profile can be saved cause I will install to more computers.

Fish

Hi,

You can install FISH (Friendly Interactive Shell) from here:

http://fishshell.org/

or

you can simply do the following:

cd to your home directory and edit .bashrc file with your favourite editor. If .bashrc is absent create one and add the following line:

alias ls='ls --color'

and the save and quit. Restart the terminal...Now you have colored directory listing..

Open a colsole, click on the Settings menu, then click on Schema. You should have several color schemes to try.

If you don't like any of them, create your own.

Run 'locate schema' to find the schemas on your system. Copy one and edit it to your liking. Rename it. Put it with the othe schemas then select it as you console schema.
