Cnet 56K 5614xe external modem driver

I am desperately trying to find out if I can get the driver to work for this modem to work on Red Hat 9. So far I have been unsuccessful.

I am a newbie as far as Linux is concerned and getting very frustrated not being able to experience the web through Linux

Can someone guide me about the driver availability and from where?

I am also not sure if I know how to install it.

I tried to start the system with the modem on but it was not detected, I also failed to get to detect the modem inside Red Hat 9 through Internet Connection Wizard.

PEACEDOG,

I really appreciate all your help in doing a google search. I had also done the same thing but was unsuccessful in getting the modem to work. However let me tell you that this is my first post on the forum while using Linux. Yes, I managed to get through with Linux and this modem. I logged on for the first time ever just few minutes ago. What actually happened I must state on this post:

When I tried to install the modem before I was using my IBM Laptop (dual boot with RH9 and W2K) and the system did not detect the modem when booting which I was expecting to happen.

I later installed the same modem on one of my desktops ( use two rigs) which is dual boot with RH9 and W2K. The moment I started the system the modem was detected. I had a very nice feeling then. However, once on the desktop I went straight to Internet Connection wizard and configured the modem manually, dialed in and was connected immediately. Now I am toying with the idea of going full ahead and install Linux on my main desktop, but, first I must learn how to use Linux on this machine which basically I intended to exclusively use for Linux.

I am grateful to you for the trouble you took to guide me but I thought it would be unfair on my part not to thank you with my first message while on the www using Linux

I have a lot to learn and I am not going to give up.

I am windows trained but hopfully will be Linux convert if I keep at it and I have all the intentions to do just that.

Cheers!
