clueless in SUsE?

Hi all,

I just started using Linux and while I knew a thing or two in windows I'm completely overwhelmed. I'm up to the challenge though. Basically I just want to develop a lesson plan so that I can assimilate this knowledge in an orderly way so I'm calling out to all the superusers out there for some help. If you were in my position what are some of the important things a noob should know? Should I focus on security first? understanding the file structure? how to use the Konsole? Any help is appreciated.

1. learn how to navigate GUI.
2. understand how to use the linux shell prompt
3. Understand the file structure
4. learn how to install programs (rpm based, source etc)
5. Learn how to edit sytem configuration files by hand (not the GUI).
6. play around with a web server like Apache and mail servers etc
7. start answering questions of linuxquestions.org

What I did first was try to get all of my old windows funcionallity back on linux. I needed a good dvd player, and a good chat application, and I wanted to get the latest release of mozilla for mail and web. As I researched how to do each of these things, I began to understand a lot about the system. If you just use it, then you learn
