clonezilla lvm and encrption help needed
 

hi-

I am wondering if it will take less time if I shrink the filesystem and do resizing with lvm. If I have a smaller logical volume, does clonezilla make the image faster?

If I have encrypted lv, does that interfere with the lvm stuff such as shrinking lv? I think I remember I have to be unmounted to shrink the filesystem and lv.

Hi-

It seems for me that an encrypted lv is more trouble than it is worth. I am going to make a backup and reinstall without encryption.

Next, I need to figure out how to use clonezilla with lvm.

I found that the command dd works without fooling with lvm. For me it is KISS and use dd to make an image of encrypted system. On my next desktop install, I am not encrypting. I want to be able to practive using lvm.
I decided against reinstalling. The way it is will work fine for now.
