Talking CLI only

Hi there, Im fairly new to linux, so will explain my predicament. Ok, so I have installed Mandrake 9.1 on this machine, as well as Windows XP. Everything works fine(thank God). Anyways, I have aslo acquired an old machine (windows 3.1), and want to install a CLI only version of linux. Any distro will be fine. I dont want any GUI, just CLI.

So my question is whether or not it is possible to install a CLI only, on an old machine, using modern distros(mandrake 9.1 hopefully).

Cheers

Yeah no problem. Just don't install anything related to:
xwindows
xfree86
gnome
kde

That covers most of the stuff used by modern distos.
