Clearing the yum update list
Hi, all,
I need to do a reinstall of the Fedora Core 8 OS. I've got good backups of /etc, /var, and /home that I can easily restore after the install. However, I suspect that after restoring those directories I'll have yum thinking I'm up to date, but some of the updated files will be missing (because I'm not restoring /usr, or /, you see.)
So, what I want to know is, how can I tell yum that it doesn't have ANY of the updates for the packages I've applied, so it will go ahead and bring everything up to date after I've restored the key parts of my system? I figure if I do that, I can restore the directories I have backed up, then run a huge "yum update" and I'll be back in business.
Thanks in advance.
