Exclamation clamav intalation problem

Hello, i have opensuse 10.2 on my laptop for about 2 months now. I know that is difficult to have virus at linux but i noticed that there were too much delay about doing thinks (opening files directories etc) i also noticed that it took very long time to boot and some times when i was at the login screen i had to put twice the password to login (first it simed to log and afterward it was on the login screen for once again!!) i tried to install clamav but when i give the frashclam command it says that the clam installation is outdated and that the functionality level is 10 and the recommended is 16 and also that the clam was not notified and therefore cant connect. because i am very new with linux if anyone knows please help!! I posted in several forums but with no answer and i really don't know what to do!!!!!!!

If you're really concerned about security, I wouldn't think much of installing AV, unless you intend on sharing files with a Windows machine. For Linux, rootkits are a bigger issue than viruses.

Install rkhunter or chkrootkit (both, preferably) and run them. It's pretty amazing what they can find =)
