Chromium conundrum

Hi, Once again I've been left feeling stupid at my misunderstanding something I thought was so straight-forward:

I've followed some instructions from Ubuntu Geek and installed the Chromium os; hopping I would see it appear as an option on my Grub menu. However it seems that I have to load 10.10 before I can cross-over to the Chromium browser; which rather defeats the object of running an alternative enviroment. Am I to understand I must wait for the specific HW to be made available before I can boot straight into a cloud os?

Thanks for your time.

You're going to have to link to the instructions you used. It is not clear what you installed. There is a Chromium browser that runs in any Linux OS and there is a Chromium OS that is a Linux based OS of its own.

That one is for the Chromium Browser not the OS.

I'm not sure how usable Chromium OS is at the moment and I read somewhere that Google expects to have a hardware product to go with it. If you're interested in cloud-based operating systems in general, have you tried out Joli OS? It's Linux-based as far as I know.
