Arrow chown more then one file and subfolder

Well want to install the gallery2 appliance and so I downloaded it casue I did not back it up. so I tried.

Code:
[root@lea html]# chown -R apache:apache ./gallery2/
[root@lea html]#
I thought the -R ment subfolders and files.

this just seem to do just that folder and there are over 3000 subfolders and files. the one thing that seems to work is to change the files one at a time and about 15 sec pert file . I have tried to do what I was shown in my last post but I don't have a clue on what it means. I am not a progarmer by any means . so I have tryed batch script like I ask early in the other files but I don't know what I am doing. is there a gui that would help in chmod chown and chgrp thank you.

That definitely should work...

Are you getting any output from the chown? As which user
are you trying it, as root?

Cheers,
Tink

There should be no problem using the -R parameter.
Add the -v (verbose) and see if it will give you info into what it is doing.
