checking MD5 hash
 
i downloaded the php5 tar.gzp file

and i would like to check MD5 hash of the downloaded file to make sure that archive is not corrupted...

any ideas howto do that...

check out this site, it tells a bit of info about md5sums and the like.

if you're too busy or don't care...well then the command is just

<prompt>$ md5sum -c filename

btw, man md5sum has some good info too.

On the commandline, do:

md5sum [filename]
