changing uname information


any ideas how to change/fake informations given by the uname program? (especialy uname -v)

Take the source code of uname which is in binutils or shutils, can't
remember which, anyway you can get it form www.gnu.org, and
change the output in the source code.
BTW what is the purpose of this?

i just saw it on one machine and was wondering how admin did it (he wont tell me)
