Changing the color of ls output?

Hello,

I'm running RedHat 7.2 and when I issue 'ls -l' it lists the different file types in different colors. Generally speaking, this is pretty helpful. There is one small problem though - the blue in which it lists directories is so dark that it's hard to read. So, how can I either change the shade of blue or set it to some other color altogether? Thanks in advance for any replies.

If you use gnome-terminal or konsole there should be an option to change the colors somewhere in preferences, or just change the background to white.
