changing rott password on the aa1 with linpus linux
 

just bought an aa1. now trying to install skype but never set a root password at original startup. now skype wont install without me stating a root password. how do i set it or rest it?
i have searched the web started terminal and typed su followed by return and the word password appears but thereafter it wont let me type anything. what can i do? thanks for any words of wisdom as i know nothing about linux.

The fact that nothing gets echoed back when you
type the password is a security feature. It still
will be accepted (if it's correct) after you press
enter ...
