Changing root password of Mandrake with SuSE CD.

Hi,
I have Mandrake Linux 9.1 installed on my dual-boot Intel celeron 1.7 GHz system.

I want to change its root password since I've lost the original password. But I don't have the Mandrake CDs with me to do that. Instead I have a SuSE Linux 9.0 Live Eval CD.

Can I use that to change the root password? If yes can you please tell me the sequence of steps and commands to do it since I am a Linux newbie?

Thank you.

Did you do a search on the net, or search this forum?

The solution is simple.

1. Boot up.
2. Press escape if you have a graphical selection screen, to get to the text lilo screen.
3. Type in "linux single'
4. enter the command: passwd
5. enter the new root password.
6. reboot.

Good Luck!
