changing ports on dyndns.org

ok.. i think i've got everything set up for my webserver.. but i have a funny feeling that my ISP blocks port 80.. so of you who use DynDns.org's service.. how/can you change what port website requests come in on? i know they have 'Web Hop'.. but how does it work? seems like adding a whole new url to me.

now.. if my ISP doesn't block port 80.. and assuming i have everything setup to what i believe is proper.. what are somethings i should be checking over to make sure it all works? apache2 works when i type http://localhost/index.htm.

I don't think you can do this for free at dyndns. They provide DNS service for free, but port redirection costs money. I could be wrong.

First figure out whether they are in fact blocking port 80. If they are, seriously consider changing your ISP or asking that they create an exception for you.

If apache works locally you need to check it from 'outside.' E.g., ssh into another computer and do http:yourdomain, or ask one of us to do so.

i will fire off an email to them soon.. the site, once up is http://jimmyb.homeip.net for now i have it at www.geocities.com/silis01

thanks.. i'll repost here once i get a responce..

i'm with Cogeco in Hamilton Canada.. so if anyone with them knows what ports (if any) cogeco blocks, it would save me the trouble :)
