changing mount points with live cd?

Is there any way to change the mount points with the Ubuntu Live CD? When I edit the fstab, all I get is this:

overlayfs / overlayfs rw 0 0
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nosuid,nodev 0 0
/dev/sda7 swap swap defaults 0 0

I believe these are the mount points only for the Live CD.

The reason I would like to change the mount points is because the installer is not finding the / directory, so I have to go in and manually set it. I have all my directories defined (e.g. / /boot /tmp, etc).

Assuming that you are interested in installing a ubuntu system ... the installer has the custom partitioning option
or use the alternative installer cd

I actually used the partitioning tool in Ubuntu live cd to set the mount points, and it worked.
