Changing graphic card once hardware fx changed

Hi,

Recently removed an ATI Radeon card, so my Dell is now using the onboard fx chip. YaST doesn't allow me to rescan the PC to notice the change in graphic card, and so the display is a little off. I can change the monitor associated with Radeon card, but not the card OpenSuse recognises.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.
Pete

Use YaST...

Opening sax2 in YaST from the desktop menu does not have any effect on the components at the level you need.

The standard method is to open a terminal, become "su" and type the command "init 3" to stop the X window manager and enter the console mode. Log in, become "su" again and type the command "sax2 -r" This will refind and reconfigure your graphics card and monitor. After sax2 finishes, type "init 5" and you should be returned to runlevel 5, the GUI with desktop.

You may have to open an "Options" or "Expert" box while in the sax2 window in order to obtain the resolution you need. Try to obtain the screen size and resolutions supported by your screen so that you can add them manually if necessary. The procedure is simple enough that you can experiment your way along and always begin again with console mode and "sax2 -r".
