Changing from text to GUI in normal user mode


Hi,
Wat happens in my college Lab is that only few computers and more no of ppl. PPl lock their screen and leave.Suppose i press Ctrl - Alt - (F2 - F6) and login into to the text mode.Can i start the X server even if i am not the SU.If so plz help me in this regard.

After you ctrl+alt+f2, and login, to start X run

startx -- :1

Then your X session will be on ctrl+alt+f8
