changing default X server
Hi, i just installed fedora core 3, on my Presario Notebook AMD64.
It is "fine", it starts all good, and goes into Gnome.. there is when i press CTRL + ALt+ F1 to go to my shell, there.. my monitor goes crazy, but the computer still working.. it start passing like a movie casting. VERY FAST... well i want to change the default X server, i want it to be KDE. not Gnome, and i want to see if anybody can help me to solve the console problem. mmmm :S so there are 2 problems.. solve the console problem. and then, from the console, change some file (u gonna tell me) to make KDE my default. by the way, i changed my /etc/inittab "default runlevel from 5 to 3.. and it works fine... totallly. i hit "kdm" but it goes into Gnome.. after it start s X server, i i try to go back to console, and BOOM thanks |

try the switchdesk command. in X it pops up a window you can choose from. if you haven't started X yet then try:
javb$ switchdesk Please specify one of either KDE, GNOME, XFCE, FVWM or WindowMaker javb$ switchdesk KDE |
Anyway, you don't need to press CONTROL+ALT+F1 to get a console. Look in Gnome menus and open one without leaving X. Then you can try running swithdesk.
You probably have access to that application in the Gnome menu also. |
