changes on terminal and Dolphin

Hi,
I have made changes in a text file by using Dolphin and Kwrite. At the same time, I am trying to see these changes (after they have been saved with Kwrite) by using a terminal with the vi program but it shows no changes made by kwrite. The file is hosted on the remote pc on a local network.
I looged out and logged in again both with terminal and dolphin but no changes have been saved.
How can I make changes with Dolphin to be visible on a terminal?

Thanks

What file are you trying to modify? Does your user have write permissions for that directory/file?

If so then once the file has been saved you should be able to view the changes in the terminal.

Is this a nfs,ssh or samba share?

I use ssh over the terminal and fish with dolphin. It is a simple text file. I have permissions to modify the file.

fish is basically sftp.

If both text editors are open at the same time vi must be configured for autoread for the changes to be seen or you need to reread the file.

If you save changes in kwrite, close the file and then reopen the file it appears to be unsaved?
