change startup and shutdown sounds

n00b here, I have mandrake 9.2 and want to change the startup sound and shutdown sounds. Anyone know where that option can be found? I'm using the KDE desktop and looked all in those options and into menudrake, but could't find things to change the startup sound. I figured out how to change the desktop background (awesome pic of Denise Richards) all by myself! But now it's time to do the sound change because I have a few Jay and Silent Bob .wav files that I want them to say when I start up and shut down.

I use GNOME and that is in "preferences"-->"sound"

KDE will probably have something similar

still I cannot find anything about startuup sounds, just sounds in general, like system beep and other sounds.

Look in the KDE Control Center -> Sound (& Multimedia) -> System Notifications, and then choose among the events.

I can't find the control center anywhere, here is what I do:

click on the K with the gears around it and these are my options:
home
terminals
networking
multimedia
documentation
configuration
applications
amusement

under configuration I have these options:
hardware
KDE
other
packaging
configure your computer
configure your desktop
menudrake

none of the above choices have anything that allows you to change the startup or shutdown sounds. Using Mandrake 9.2

run kde control center from the shell terminal. the command:

kcontrol

then follow bebo's navigation.

ok, doing it that way worked perfect, i now have the option to select which file i want to use on startup i.e. THX intro. It's in .wav format and there is an option to select which player to play it from. The default player just makes a bunch of static but when i open it in mplayer it plays the .wav fine. should I switch it to mplayer to play the sound on startup?
