change serial no of DNS server

I read the below URL but have question .

If I change DNS record , I have to change serial no. , right ? if yes , the serial no. should be increased by 1 , for example , if the existing serial no. is 20140311 , then it should be changed to 20140312 , am I right ? thanks

You're right increasing by 1 is sufficient
On the other the serial is used to remind us the last date the zonefile was changed, so if you want to do changes today, use 2014101201
See this for a better explanation

Regards
