Change refresh rate on fedora
How do I change my screen refresh rate on my fedora7?
|
From GUI
Administration or system --> Display in KDE fedora7 is too old ...move to Fedora10 |
I tried that but I can't get the refresh rate to go lower.
how do I change horizontal and vertical refresh? |
Why would you want to lower the refresh rate?
|
I'm using an old monitor and if the rate is too high left edge of my screen gets cut off, only solution is to lower the rate a little.
|
That should not be your refresh rate. It should be your resolution. Video cards also only have a fixed window of refresh rates that they can operate in.
|
Fixed it!
I just added HorizSync 31.5 -50.0 VertRefresh 40-90 to /etc/X11/xorg.conf yeah you are right I could also lower my resolution or keep it the same and lower the refresh rate. |
Be aware that operating a monitor outside its normal refresh rates will damage the monitor.

Post output of
#lspci and your /etc/X11/xorg.conf Usually hsync and vsync are auto detected (you will find them in the manual/monitor website too). If they are not, use modelines as well |
Here you go.
