I bought an used Asus eee pc 701sd. It came loaded with Linux; but I am not familiar with the version (unsure what version it is). I would like to uninstall it and install Ubuntu. But I can't locate a C: drive directory or an uninstall file. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Download Ubuntu and burn the ISO image to CD. When you go to install Ubuntu, it will present you with several options. One of those options will be to wipe the hard drive and install Ubuntu as the sole OS. Choose that option...and, as Reginald Van Gleason would say "....and away we go!".
like sumguy said burn a disk and boot from it, but as its a netbook and dont optical drive so u have to rely on external optical drive, or flash drive, on other thoughts this net book comes up with Xandros linux and open office is also installed so give it a try u might like it.
Thanks everyone for the posts. I going to consider Gripip's suggestion and try Xandros out. I have Ubuntu on another laptop and like it's simplicity. Xandros seems filled with frills and keeps requesting updates/upgrades. And I can't find my way around in it. But everything is present on the desk top. So I will try it out. The other problem is that I can't get to my cd drive to run the setup for Ubuntu I have it on cd). The Bios won't give an option to change the boot order. And I didn't think that Xandros would let me load from it's file manager. It seems Asus has everything programmed to run Xandros. If I find the way to access it I will probably switch to Ubuntu.
