Change language in console

Hello all,

my native language isn't english, so when I installed linux, i have chosen system to be in my language. But now I would like to change it. Preferably I would like console/terminal to be in english, but gnome should stay in my language. I found few solutions but none of them work. I found how to start bash using LANG, but keyboard didn't change and It wasn't permanent. I'm using ubuntu 11.10.

Thanks for help.

These should work :-

loadkeys (1) - load keyboard translation tables
setxkbmap (1) - set the keyboard using the X Keyboard Extension
