Change IP

I am using a yahoo messenger software to call 800 number for free when I am in the US. However, now, i am traveling and want to be able to call the 800 number. I think the software detect my location based my connecting ip and does not allow me to call the 800 number.

Is there a way to hide the ip or change my ip to the US's.
Windows or Linux based software is fine. Need help badly.

However if your "free calling" was tied to some conditions, such as you using a certain IP address, being in a certain location (like inside the USA) or using certain software, then there are reasons why it is so; instead of trying to get pass the blocking, you should simply review the license agreement you accepted when you started using the service and see why you cannot call from your current place; if it's not mentioned there, contact the service provider and they'll surely tell you. For example using proxy (if it helped) might or might not be allowed to be able to call in your case, but if it wasn't, you'd be doing something illegal -- which means that basically you could be fined, sued or at least be cut off the service, depending on how they take it.

And with these words this thread is closed.

If/when the OP resolves the potential legal issues and
contacts me via e-Mail I'm happy to reopen the thread.
