Change from Windows XP to Linux Mint 10

I'm New to Linux and am completely fed up with Windoze. I'm looking to completely change over and need help getting rid of windows.
I am currently using windows xp and am looking to use Linux Mint 10.

I would recommend you download Mint 10 and then run it in liveCD mode (i.e. just put it in your drive and reboot into Mint). Play around with it, get familiar with linux. It won't touch your hard disk. Get comfortable.

Then copy all your important data to another drive. Then either install Mint on a spare drive or dual boot (shrink your XP partition and install in the empty space).

Enjoy!

Well...are you having some specific problem you need help with, or is this just a general statement? Have you tried booting the Mint disc and seeing if all of your hardware appears compatible? Have you even burned it yet?
