In 3.5
If 3.4 is like 3.5, you can open Configure Desktop-Appearance & Themes-Colors, and find it is possible to change the Color Scheme. It should also be possible to open the roll down menu under Widget Color and change the colors for all parts of the display. You may not get the effect that you asked for, but you can change the color of the text. You can use the two settings in combination. I use KDE 3.5, but I expect that 3.4 is similar. You might explore KDE some more. I seem to remember that there was some setting for shading, but I don't remember where and can't find anything. Try google. |

What I meant...
I can make the changes by going to 1) KMenu/Suse and opening the 2) Favorites menu, where one choice is 3) Configure Desktop which opens to a window with a menu containing the item 4) Appearance & Themes, the choice of which gives a menu with the item 5)Colors. On the same menu list is an item Icons, with the tabs Theme and Advanced. Advanced opens a window and, at the bottom, has boxes that can be opened to Set Effects. You might be able to achieve the effects you need by combining the possibilities in the tabs Theme and Advanced. |

KDE is highly customisable. Most distros come with kcontrol, though it is often not on the menus.
So start it from a terminal by typing kcontol Then you need to click on Appearcnce & Themes Under that menu you will find many things you can change. Start by looking at the Following submenus: Colours Fonts Style and Theme Manager |

I remind u that i only want to change the colour of the text in the desktop's icons. Also it will be useful to add some background around them so i can easily read them against my white background So trying to find out where are my options i need to configure i have searched under the Configure Desktop->Appearance and Themes a)Colors .. Here i can see many options regarding the whole graphic interface. I have especially try to find out if the Widget Color submenu allowsto change font color in desktop but i didnt make it b)Fonts: Hmm i can see many options for fonts . Here is an option for Desktop fonts but unfortunately there is no option for color... u can only select font and font size c)Style... nothing appropriate here too d)Theme i t just contains buttons that open the previous options (Colors, Fonts, Style) Sorry for bad english and thx for the help |

Control Center --> Appearance & Themes --> Background & select "Advanced Options" You can change the desktop icon text color and add your colored box around the icon text from here. You'll have to uncheck "Enable shadow" for the colored box to show. |
Thx it worked!!!!! Thx really

To change the menu font size: Control Center --> Appearance & Themes --> Fonts --> Change the value for "Menu:" To change the icon size in the default KDE menu: http://www.suseblog.com/k-menu-icon-...ensuse-desktop This apparently doesn't work on the SUSE style kde menu |
