change back to ubuntu from kubuntu
ok here goes.. the smartypants i.t. guy at work suggested installing kubuntu to my computer where i was using ubuntu.. i did it by opening a terminal and typing sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop...... ok.... i really dont like kubuntu.. i want to change it back how do i do it????

Normally after booting up the OS you are presented with a log in screen, somewhere at this stage should be a way to choose what kind of session you want to log into. Like a command line only, last session, another "type of desktop session, like Gnome instead of KDE", etc.

If you installed it with aptitude you should be able to remove it all again without affecting other packages. If you installed it with apt, it's a bit more difficult.
Anyway. Worst case is that you have some more programs in the menue that you don't need. |
Shouldn't apt-get install ubuntu-desktop do the trick? This would leave the KDE packages installed I guess, but basically it should revert the box back to ubuntu settings.

now i can't get the 64bit opera browser to install... grrrrr |
Install the 32 bit version then but make sure that it is the static version (It is under "other" or something like that on their download page). Install with dpkg -i --force-architecture package_name.

LinuxCrayon you are a life saver. I made the mistake of install Kubuntu over ubuntu and have spent days trying to get it all back. Your fix was the finally solution. Thought I was going to have to reinstall the whole thing.
