Warning, if you claim your SuZe qualification you write off your claims to anything you might create via code.

Meh... No certification (or lack thereof) can alter your copyright-claim status to anything that you produce.

It can if you agree to the terms by which said certification is confered even if (perhaps) getting one cert. gave you the implied right to another.

While certifications (even the practical exams) can never teach you everything you need to know in the respective positions they may claim to qualify you for, I've found certification courses are a great way to reach a base level of knowledge in a subject, and the exams are great motivation to learn about the parts that may seem uninteresting or unimportant at first.
I also started off with the Intro to Linux course and then started the LFCS track and it became clear very quickly that I needed a better foundation, so I switched to Linux+/LPIC-1 and am currently working toward the second exam. After I complete the Linux+/LPIC-1 I'm going to revisit LFCS. This path seems to be working for me so far, but your mileage may vary.
