centOS stuck on loadup....

Hi all,

I have a CentOS on an AMD64 machine (using the 64bit version on centOS latest) and it gets stuck on the load up when it loads the portmap and the NFS (network init.). it will remain stuck for over a minute or even more.

the same happends after putting in username and password... takes forever before the KDE/desktop loads.

I put this in the newbie section because I still consider myself as one, he he...

also, if it helps, it seems to do the same when I try to login to MySQL server installed (localhost), takes so much time before I can start.

hope you guys can help,
thanx in advance,
Gal

Sounds like a name lookup issue at first blush. Do you have the entry for localhost and whatever name you've given the machine in /etc/hosts? If the machine can't resolve its own name weird things can happen.
