CentOS rename machine

I am building my first CentOS 5 box and discovered I need to rename the box (host, machine). How do I do that in Linux?

Hello,

You should have been given the option when you installed CentOS. Otherwise, just use the "hostname" command to change your hostname.

Cheers,

Josh

Hi,

changing the hostname on the fly on Redhat based systems (like CentOS) seems to need some additional tweaks. I've used the following method to change the hostname on such systems in the past.

Cheers,

Evo2.
