CentOS on Virtualbox

Hello,

My name is Joshua from Malaysia. I wanted to learn more about CentOS. I tried installing CenTOS on Virtualbox, but it hangs or nothing is happening after the start up screen. I am just seeing a wall paper. Before that there was a prompt about 32 bit and 24 bit graphics. Any one had this problem with virtual box ? I run Virtualbox on Windows 7 64bit

You might need to install the guest-additions. It's under the Devices heading in the menu.

My install of CentOS on Virtualbox takes about 10 minutes to boot to full desktop, it seems like it isn't doing anything for ages but it does start eventually, also takes ages to shutdown too. Have you tried leaving it for a while?

Ages... how many minutes is that? I waited for 10 minutes, nothing was happening so I shut it down...

Off hand, I would say that something is wrong with your CentOS install. I have it running in VirtualBox (v. 5.x on one computer and v. 6 on a much brawnier computer) and it acts just as if it were on a its own computer.

I did give it a gig of RAM, though, because I could. How many RAMs did you give it?
