CENTOS INSTALLATION "rpmdb PANIC fatal region error detected run recovery"

Hello Linux Gurus

I've tried to install CentOS 5.5 but it stops during the mid of installation on bootloader with red screen saying:
"rpmdb PANIC fatal region error detected run recovery"

is there any way to fix this

The GOOD news is this ISN'T fatal to the OS - it's merely a problem with the system's "package manager" (the RPM database keeps track of what CenTos packages are installed, and what dependencies they have).

You might be able to fix the entire problem like this:

#rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
#db_verify /var/lib/rpm/Packages
#rpm --rebuilddb
