Centos 6.5 32 bit,mouse not working.

I have installed 32-bit centos 6.5 in a desktop but now the mouse isn't working. I installed it with the basic server packages.

Is it the 6.5 bug or do i need to do something?

Assuming you are talking about the CLI and not the GUI: Did you install/configure the gpm package?

The CLI and GUI both use different ways to control the mouse.

- For the CLI (runlevel 3, no GUI) the gpm package is needed (and might need to be configured).
- The GUI does not use gpm it uses X to load the driver.

It seems that your mouse problem is GUI related. Without knowing which type of mouse (wired, wireless, USB etc) you have and which DM (KDE/Gnome/???) you use it is rather hard to help you.

Is CentOS installed in a virtual machine?

Maybe too obvious, but: Are you sure the mouse itself isn't faulty? Assuming a wired mouse: Is the cable plugged in correctly?

well the mouse isn't faulty. I have tried using others too but same problem. Even when the mouse is plugged out,the cursor remains at the same position.

the type of mouse shouldn't be an issues since the cursor remains to be stuck at the same place even when the mouse isn't plugged in.

Is there some kind of package that needs to be installed?

Please answer all the questions, not just the one about the mouse being faulty and/or unplugged.
