Cent OS help

Hi All,

I am trying to install Cent OS 5.5 on my home PC with packages server, server-Gui, virtualization(both xen and kvm)leaving clustering part.

the partitions i made are root 30GB on lvm, home 10GB lvm,boot ext3 300MB and swap 5GB,

Questions:
1) is the above conf for installing Cent OS is ok or not.
2) all the packages we install goes by default in root file-system right?

at the time of installation Cent OS fires a error "not able to transfer the image to the HD (out of space)"
please let me know why this error comes i think 30GB is enough space for installing the Cent OS with above packages.

That should be more than enough space. You will have some files in /boot, but I doubt if it would be anywhere need 300MB. 5GB of swap space is more than you will need. Historical recommendation was for 2x your physical memory, until having several GB of memory became more common. One or two GB would be more than enough.

All of the other files, with a few exceptions for some small ones that set up the home directories will go in the root file system. I wonder if the virtualization is causing you problems? Have you tried Googling for this error message along with xen and kvm and centos to see if there is a known problem?
