Cennectivity Issues
 

Im putting an FC6 server together and I just ran into a small problem. After FTPing all the needed old files/folders from the old server, I no longer am able to access the internet or network. Any ideas? Here is a list of directories I transfered.

/d2
/d2a
/data
/u
/var/www
/var/wwwold

As you can see none of these are system directories. Any ideas how I can get my connectivity back?

Try setting up your network card again, and try unplugging and plugging it back in check all conenctions, if possible check your computer has got an ip address showing for your interface (ifconfig) and then try to ping something if there is something you can ping internally. Shouldn't make any difference as not copying any system files, i'm guessing...

Are folders/partitions you have set-up yourself and don't relate to in any way /etc /usr etc sym links or anything like that?

Well I did the ifconfig and all i get as far as IPs go is the local IP (127.0.0.1). I also did unplug the cable and plugged it back in. All folders and partitions are setup by me. I was able to get online an access the network before (hence why I was able to FTP in the first place) and nothing relates to /etc, /usr, or any of that. I will try to set up my nic again and see what happens.

Holy crap....How retarded. I just went to go see if the nic was activated ( thats probably the first thing I should have done) and of course it was set as "inactive". So all that needed to be done was to hit the "activate" button and thats it.

Yeah no ipaddress showing in an ifconfig output will mean its off, or cable is pulled out etc etc, i'm happy its fixed
