cd-rw reading in linux

ok here's my ordeal: I'm dual booting XP Pro and Mandrake 8.1. I can't get on the internet in Mandrake because i have an internal PCI DSL modem. But i do have a winmodem that will work in Linux. But here's the problem. My file system in XP is NTFS. I've set it up to read that partiton from Mandrake. But i can't copy anything from it to the ext2 partiton. I'm trying to get the winmodem drivers into linux so i can get on the 'net. so i figured i'd put them on a cd-rw. But i can't figure out how to get linux to read them. Should i just put the files on a cdr?

yeah your probably better off putting them on a cd-r or a floppy.. as usually the cd-rw is formatted for whatever program you created it with can read from..
