CD-Rom icon disappeared in 800x600 display

When I first installed Linux (Mandrake 10.0) there was a very convenient CD-Rom icon on the desktop.

I took the liberty of changing the display resolution to 800x600 and the icon disappeared.
I set the display back to 1024x768 but the icon did not come back.

Any idea how I can get it back?

This was my second question, thanks for your patience: 2 more queries to go!!!

You may have by mistakely deleted the icon from your desktop.
Are u using KDE or GNOME as your desktop environment?

However,
Right click on the blank area and check for 'disk' in case of GNOME or 'Configure Desktop' in case of 'KDE' and click on CD-ROM (in the submenu for GNOME) and Click on Behaviour and then go to Devices (that appears in the side window of Behaviour) Then select CD-ROM (or CD-Writer) whichever applicable.

Hope this solves your problem..

If you use KDE, you can also open konqueror and, in the location bar, type
Code:

drives:/
. This will show you all your drives, including removable drives, including CD-drive.

doesn't mandrake only show an icon on the desktop if theres a cd in the drive? did you take the cd out?

it might also be that it went off the screen. try right click the desktop -> clean up by name

My icon is back!
I ticked all the boxes on the KDE "Configure desktop" and it came back.
