CD-R problem "no medium found"

hey guys
all of a sudden my cd-r says "no media found" when i try to load cd?? it worked a little while ago, just wanna play music, i tried a couple different cd's to. i havent messed with /dev or /mnt since i finally got both my cd-r (/dev/hdd) and my dvd (/dev/hdd) working.
any thoughts?

That error normally occurs when there is no cd inserted in the drive.... :D

If it's a CDR, it's probably using scsi emulation, and isn't hdd anymore. You'll either need to recreate your symlinks:
ln -sf /dev/scd0 /dev/cdburner (assuming /dev/scd0 is the new name of your burner)

I don't know if that's a typo, or if this is a combo drive (/dev/hdd) but either way, it would still be the same thing if you are using scsi-emulation.

Cool

does the bare.i kernel use scsi emulation??? anyways everything basically works..kinda, my dvd will only mount dvd's wich is fine and my cd-r will only mount cd's with text or files, not audio..but XMMS will mount the audio and play it wich is all i wanted anyways so its not broke im not gonna fix it!!

Which is perfectly normal behaviour ;)
You *can't* mount audio-CD's ...

ya

ya... there is a probably a really good reason for this but i don't know what it is. i use a command line program called cdplay to play cd's but there are a lot of others out there. probably a lot with gui's. but if you need to test it out, put in an wudio cd and type cdplay. you should hear the cd in a few seconds. to stop it type cdplay stop. type man cdplay for main details. i think it should be included in most distros. hope that helps.

ya o can play audio with xmms wich is fine but i thought i mounted a audio cd, i thats what i did, when you ask xmms to play a file from a directory then all the tracks show up, but anyways everything works i was just wondering, im really enthralled by this new world of slack, it makes windows look like
it was bad dream!!!
