You don't have to reinstall, I don't want you to think it is the only way, I am just saying it is what I would do...

I also prefer to use grub, I find it easier, but the choice is up to you.

Well I'm going for the all out eyecandy-fest-newbie-style before I turn minimalist and use text-based apps

I dont mind re-installing, I think I'll make some better choices next time. And I dont have too many settings tweaked.

The cds might work too this time...

You have the disk space, why not do a full install and check everything out? Lot's of cool stuff to play with.

Ok, everything's awesome now. I re-installed, this time closing the CD drive before saying I'd put the disk in, everything loaded beautifully!
Swap is a little over 500megs now. / is about 3.5gig.
Lilo likes windows again
I must've picked some dodgy server option last time, because now I get much more user-friendly menus in KDE, such as games, and 'Connect to the Internet'
Now I just have to install the modem and maybe graphics card drivers (nVidea GF3 Ti200 128DDR). And get some updates/patches.

Thanks for all your help guys, and to MandrakeSoft for making this increadibly easy-to-install OS

Good stuff. Now sit on your hands when you get the urge to play with lilo.conf

Just kidding...

I blame the perty gui of the MCC hypnotising me and causing the slip
I'm sure I'd tried every option for Lilo... Oh well, at least I have a backup now just incase...
