You'll need to give more information in order for someone to help you. What do you mean no CD's are working in your drive? Are you getting some type of error message? What type of CD is this?

After running a new cd in the cd drive no cds are working in it. After inserting any cd in the cd drive it is trying to read..seems to be busy reading. no error messages.

You can test your system with the Knoppix LiveCD.
If Knoppix can't even start, perhaps you have a hardware failure (not very probable if it occured to 2 computers).
If you have enough RAM, you can run Knoppix in RAM, so you can use the drive to test the cd from Knoppix, in the case it was the only optical drive of the computer).
If knoppix can see it, then the driver in the installed O.S. is perhaps corrupted and needs to be re-installed.

And, please, give more details about that mysterious cd and the corrupted(?) systems:
hardware (m/b, drive model), and software (operating system).
