Arrow Cant set RefreshRate to 60 MHz on a Philips LCD

Hi everyone

I've just installed SuSE 10.1.0 and i am having troubles with setting my monitor to work properly. (Monitor type is Philips 190X6 / 19")
The thing is that i need to get 1280x1024 at 60MHz, so it looks nice, but after all my efforts,
it refuses to get lower than 75Hz.
What i have done so far is try setting VertRefresh in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to "60" but still nothing. My X rises in 75 again.
The bundled tools, that actually modify xorg.conf dont work as well.

So, is there any chance to get X work with 1280x1024@60 ?

Here is my xorg.conf:

I can't say for certain, but my Philips 201B performs best if I have the vertical and horizontal refresh rates set as per the "official" specifications.

I'm sorry I don't have a link, but I just googled for the model and checked out a couple of sites - it enables me to use 1600X1200@85Hz (with the nvidia driver i.e. actually it has to have that, as my system doesn't seem to like the generic "nv" driver - I usually have to change that to "vesa" until I have the nvidia driver sorted properly which can prove a bit of a PITA).

regards

John

p.s. also, I was under the impression that the LCD monitors had to have the default "native" resolution set - but as I don't have an LCD device that might be incorrect

The point is that LCD Monitors (mine for sure) works best in 1280x1024@60...

Anyway... i fixed the problem by going to

YaST Control Center >> System >> Graphics Card and Monitor >> Monitor >> Options...

and giving the VertRefresh directive value "30-60" (no quotes)...

Then restart X and all went fine.
Thanks anyway. Hope this thread helps to other readers with same problem !
