can't run X programs on remote linux box

Hi all, I'm using SuSE and via "ssh" I'm connecting to a Mandrake box...., everything goes well untill I try to use, something like "gVim", it says "Can't open display"..., what's up with that???, if I try to do that from a windows box (using an Xserver) everything works just fine...

I'm using KDE and the other box (the one I'm trying to connect) is using Gnome..., could that be the problem???

Try using:
ssh -X user@host

nop, it still says the same:

"E233: cannot open display"

Any other ideas???

Is the server network enabled? Can you post the output from this on both systems:
netstat -nlp | grep 60

And on the system with the x server:
xhost

the "xxx" are to protect some names.., I'm in my office computer...call me paranoid..

I found that I had a similar problem
When X programs previously ran from a remote session using RH9.
I am now using FC5/gnome and they didn't run.

Try using ssh -X username@server

I also found there was a problem with running some X session programs using gnome-terminal.

I suggest that you should try using the X terminal program konsole which is the default command line terminal for KDE. Konsole also works from a Gnome session.

You can also setup a launcher on your desktop. The launcher command is konsole -e ssh -X username@server xcommand. Don't tick the 'run in terminal' box.
