Cant Read Disc + I Need Image

I cant read the .VOB files in my VCD. What is the best program in linux to read DVDs?

Also, I need the ISO images of the DVD. I dont want to burn them just to mount their image (e.g. .daa ). I was using PowerISO before this in windows. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm assuming you wish to play dvds when you say "read to .VOB files". So, try smplayer or kaffeine or totem or vlc or gnome-mplayer or kmplayer.

To burn iso images of dvds try k3b or gnomebaker or nautilus-cd-burner. To create iso images of dvds try k9copy. I'm not sure about reading iso images, but I think either ark or file-roller might work.

To find and try out packages, you can use either synaptic (can search descriptions or names) or the online listings at ubuntu.

Wonder if poweriso would work under wine? Many of the programs that run on W98 should run I'd think. At least a greater chance. I'd try that.

Linux has a lot of ways but not a single use app to do what poweriso does.

You don't need to burn a DVD just to read the file. Use daa2iso to convert to standard iso format You can mount an iso file directly.

Code:
mkdir /tmp/iso
mount -r -t iso9660 myisofile.iso /tmp/iso
